Moving Out of Lockdown and What That Means for Funerals, Weddings and Naming Ceremonies.

With the Prime Minister announcing his roadmap out of lockdown, it finally feels like there's a light at the end of the tunnel and that life is going to start to return to normal.

Obviously, this plan is subject to the "R" rate continuing to fall and there being decreasing pressure on the NHS, but for the moment, this is what it means for funerals, weddings, naming ceremonies, wakes and receptions.

STEP ONE - 8th MARCH 2021

  • For funerals, nothing will really change, there will still be a maximum of 30, however you will be able to hold a wake for for up to 6 people.

  • Weddings will also be able to take place, but with a maximum of 6 people (this doesn't include the celebrant / minister / registrar etc)

STEP TWO - 12th APRIL 2021

  • There will still be a maximum of 30 people who can attend a funeral, but the number allowed at a wake will increase to 15.

  • For weddings and wedding receptions, the number who can attend will also increase to 15.

STEP THREE - 17th MAY 2021

  • From the 17th May, the number of people allowed to attend most life events will increase to 30.

STEP FOUR - 21st JUNE 2021

  • There will be no legal limits on the amount of people who can attend a funeral, wake, wedding, reception or naming ceremony.

If you want to know more about the roadmap, then all the details you need are on the Government website.
